A Dog Named Blue

A true story of love, loyalty, and the lessons that last a lifetime.

I wrote A Dog Named Blue for my husband, Chris. It is a deeply personal story, inspired by the remarkable bond between him and the dog who became his companion, helper, and friend.

What began as a private gift became a story I felt was worth sharing—a story about rescue, purpose, courage, and the way one act of kindness can change more than one life.

The Story Behind Blue

Blue was once an abandoned puppy beside a Texas road. After being rescued and trained as a service dog, he found his way to Chris, a teacher needing help with everyday tasks.

Together, they became a team.

Blue helped Chris in practical ways, but his greatest gift was companionship. He brought confidence, laughter, independence, and a steady presence into ordinary days. The bond between Chris and Blue was unmistakable to everyone who knew them.

Why I Wrote It

This book was never intended to be simply a story about a clever dog.

It is about the people and animals who enter our lives at exactly the right moment. It is about the courage required to let someone you love go where they are needed most. And it is about the lasting mark left by a loyal friend long after the years together have ended.

A Story Worth Sharing

Although A Dog Named Blue began as something personal, its heart reaches beyond our family.

It is for children who love animals, families who understand the bond between a person and a dog, and anyone who has ever discovered that simple kindness can set an entire life on a different path.
